If you couldnt run Sunfire what would you run?

Like it says... If Sunfire wasnt around what a/v preamps or receivers would you use? Ive heard good things about B&K but havent got the chance to run one... Im curious what you all would "fall back" on!!

I'd probably consider Adcom or Outlaw

When it comes to amps, CARVER of course. Not only for the sound but for the cost. Any comparable amp will cost more.

AS for Pre amps, in two channel still Carver. There are many to choose from even (I believe) a couple of tube models.

HT, I ve heard good things about Outlaw.

Lets see what the heavy hitters have to say.

Im still newbie enough I havent really heard much about outlaw but Ill poke around and see what turns up!

Ive tried Adcom a couple times actually... Ive had 3 different GTP-600's. I was REALLY impressed with the sound decoding on all 3 of them. But they ALL 3 had problems in one place or another! One the video channels flat out didnt work, one half the sound channels didnt work, and I forget what problems the other one had. Maybe it was just a string of bad luck but I was a little tainted by it...

I do still however have a Adcom cd player and enjoy it, all except for the noisey cd tray!

I have HEARD around the block that Emotiva, Promethius, Adcom, B+W, Parasound are some ones that keep getting mentioned...BUT AGAIN, little ol' me has not one clue whether they are good or not. I just keep hearing the names. Useless post done.

Well it sounds like its time to get into the HT game!!! Its as addicting as 2 channel audio is. Plus it adds a hole extra dimension of things to spend money on! TV's and DVD players!!!

No can do. As I mentioned before, I gave up HT 2 decades ago. Last year was the year I decided to get rid of everything else and go strictly 2-channel. No TV, no DVR, no VCR, no nothin' but the sheer beauty and bliss of two channel audio.

Best decision I ever made and my ears thank me everyday.
