Center Speaker Amp ?

Thats cool! hey, what kind of speakers are those R/L? They look a lot like my MB Quart Speakers, except mine look taller as there is a bass port in the bottom front. I need to figure out how to post pictures.

I can't BELIEVE you've never heard Rainman go on and ON and ON about his Linn speakers....

I scored a really nice TFM-15 on ebay last night so should be all set.

Now have to decide on a surround processer. (5.1 is all I need)
I'm going to use the M.1 for the mains and 2 channel system.
The TFM-35 for the rears, and the TFM-15 for the center.

Any recommendations?

All depends on what kind of 5.1 you want Dave. If all you want is Dolby Pro-Logic Surround then a CT-17, CT-28v or CT-29v might do the trick for you. It also depends on if you need video switching or just audio. If you need more 5.1 modes like Dolby Digital or Dolby EX, you may have to look elsewhere than Carver, so Sunfire might be a good bet.

Or is there a good used Sunfire model I should look for?
Just need audio, 5.1 , the lastest Dolby, and no video swiching. ( the tv etc would do all that yes/no? )
Also don't really need a tuner, I just listen to CD's, online music, DVD's of live concerts, and of course movies when it all gets set up.
If I have to go to 7.1 to get the latest Dolby thats fine too.

I'd get a Sunfire TGP-III or IV. Less money and all the right stuff for an AUDIOphile. While they don't do HDMI audio (the latest codecs are either HDMI for the receiver to decode or decoded in the player and sent analog), they do have discrete 8-channel input for everything from True-HD audio to SACD, they are USA made and come up to a really good bargain these days.

Weren't there just some TGR-IIIs or TGP-Vs on sale for like $1495 brand new with full warranty somewhere? The TGP-401 should be going for soemwhere in the $4k range if I remember correctly..... that is IF you can find one somewhere!

$300-$500 for a processor???? Maybe for an all in 1 receiver unit, but typically processors start in the 4 figure range. I just saw a 90WPC Yamaha 7.1 receiver with HDMI switching on sale for $259 up here. I can't remember even seeing a standalone processor (new) for close to the $1000 price point. Maybe our more HT savvy members will chime in here.

BTW, I just checked a whole bunch of my DVDs here and the lowest common denominator in regards to Dolby seems to be Dolby Digital 5.1 as the minimum requirement; same with my 3 or 4 concert DVDs

Dave, OBI is right, but you have to take into consideration how much unit you are atually going to get for $1-$2k VS. how much you would have to spend to get a comparable piece made by someone else....Look at the cost of the Theta Casanova units I pasted at the bottom for reference.....
If you are willing to buy a used one and don't need it "yesterday" you can sometimes find stuff like this..TGP II that sold for a mere $332 and that's not a joke kids...

I`m thinking of maybe just going with one of the above Carvers for now. (can always sell it when I up-grade.)

They all have 5 RCA outs to the amps I guess ? How does the input part work ?
Do you just run your 75ohm cable from your DVD/cable tv etc. into the rear of the unit ?
