Carver c-1000a

Post by PJKin D.C. » Sun Aug 28, 2005 2:23 pm

I am very interested in purchasing a Carver c-1000a unit. I am not a audiophile yet, butr I am working towards a nice home theater system. For right now, I feel the Carver c-1000a will fit the bill.

Does anyone know of any interested parties and or audio dealers that may have one for sale?

I am ready to act, so any information would be greatly interested.

Regards,
Paul

That receiver does NOT enjoy a very good rep for reliability.

Take a look at the HR-895. They are availible on e-bay for <$350.

It is only Dolby Pro Logic 5 channel but it is very full featured for everything else. Due to space constraints I don't have mine set up for home theater but as nice as it is in 2 channel it should be very nice in its home theater configuration.

So, what you are saying is that Carvers come back unit isnt worth its salt? I have spoken to many people who love the unit. Please explain why this unit is not worth a second look?

Thanks for all of your comments.

Paul

It's out of production, doesn't have DPLII or component switching and seems to have a overheating problem.

Hmmm, I have a C-1000 (not the "A") and I have considered putting it up for sale.

If we come to an agreement I am not sure how to handle the payment/shipping issues. I never bought or sold anything via the net.

I moved last August (theater system still in storage) so I updated my profile if you wish to send me an Email.

I have the original box, owners manual and programmable remote.

Hey PJK.

Any luck?

I have taken a moment to connect my receiver to a pair of little JVC speakers. My wife now has SOMETHING (FM) to listen too.

I plan to take a couple of weeks off over X-Mas so I'll spend some time setting up my system. The tricky part will be fishing the video/speaker wires under the carpet and sneaking them behind the baseboards.

Please let us know how your purchase works out.

Best regards,
Dick
