Forgot to specify:
The cross sectional area at the front of my TL line is 125% of the driven cone area and the cross sectional area at the port end is same as the driven cone area.

Thanks Jazzman. I remember reading your statement about sticking your head in the sealed box and humming. The idea make perfect sense to me, it's just that I bet not many have ever thought of it. Thanks for listing your learning sources.

Re: Jazzman's System

Since my last update I've gone digital and added some subs. My primary music source is now a Squeezebox Touch, the analog EQ and crossover are now replaced by Behringer DEQ2496 and DCX2496 digital units, and I've added a pair of homebuilt Ripole subs.

The Squeezebox Touch makes me lazy as hell, as I can now play anything in my library without getting up from my easy chair, using an Ipad as the remote. I'm bypassing both the DAC in the Squeezebox and the analog preamp--- going Toslink digital out of the Squeezebox, digital AES cable between the Behringers, and finally a single DA conversion out of the DCX into the amps.

OK... I know the Behringers are cheap, but I think, the setup thus configured sounds really good. As we know, dipole ESL's need a bit of EQ'ing to compensate their roll off and after hearing the results I'm convinced EQ'ing in the digital domain ahead of the DA conversion is a better way to do it.

The Ripoles can't pressurize the room with chest thumping bass like conventional subs but neither do they excite boomy room modes like conventional subs can and they're very clean--- the lower bass notes now just seem to come from nowhere on attacks and recede to nowhere on the decays.

Below are pics of my new setup and a ink to a short video my old buddy Jason put together for me:
