CT-27v Preamp: a Mystery

Post by camfg » Tue Nov 24, 2009 4:15 pm

I will soon be taking delivery of a Carver CT-27V preamp. I plan to use as an input switcher and Phone preamp for a two-channel EL34-based tube system . DVD also hooked up to this system, so I'll be doing some TV watching (two speakers only).

Anyway, I'm completely unfamiliar with this preamp, and my web search uncovered little more than auction ads. If anyone has any information (specs, comparable models, manuals, general opinions), I would really appreciate it.

This will be my first Carver component, so I'm looking forward to exploring this site, and getting familiar with some of you Carver fans.

Best regards,

Matt.

Well, I've seen a spec sheet, that was unremarkable. Phono input is 470 pF is about all that you'll need. Looks like it does 5.1, and has enough loops to make most people happy. Can video switch of you like composite TV. Pretty straightforward early A/V preamp.
It should sound like it isn't there!

Welcome to the forum camfg! I think your like this pre-amp. So are you purchasing this "without" the manual? The manual would be nice to have explaining all the functions.

Welcome to the forum. You will like that preamp/tuner. HOWEVER, OCCD will kick in, and it is all down hill after that. =D>

Thanks for the kind welcomes, all.

I'm not too concerned about video switching (I have only two video sources, and they both are connected directly to the T.V. with higher-def connections).

No manual, unfortunately. Any thoughts on how I might find a scan of one would be greatly appreciated!

Should have the thing hooked up next week.
