And so it begins

This is what I accomplished yesterday.

I cleaned out the room. Tore up the old carpet and laid new. Put some carpet on the wall behind the tv. This actually looks really damn nice. The pic doesn't do it justice. The black just pops.. Removed some wallpaper. Got the tv out of the box. Hooked the stereo up. I'm a long way from being done but it was nice to finally just get started. It was nice to be able to sit down there and listen for a bit.

On a side note. That isn't how the speaker set up is going to be. Even though the Plats aren't up and running, I just wanted to put them all up there cuz it looked damn cool I think. So for now, I can listen to the AL IIIs.

That looks dam nice!! Did you add those walls making a new room for your set-up? I actually like the carpet on the wall, never seen that before > great idea! Look forward to more pic's!

Yep, added the walls for the HT/music room. I plan on insulating, then soundboard, then drywall the new walls. Also going to insulate the ceiling and then put acoustical foam on it the celing tiles. I hope it all comes together. I want to "soundproof" it the best I can but also have a nice listening area in the process.

Funny, when looking at the pics the room doesn't appear to be that big. Wall to wall in the tv area it is about 15ft wide. Behind the couch it extends to about 18ft. The room itself is about 21ft long.

Yea I know, Partially due to a psycho ex and to dry rot. Gonna get it taken care of though.

When it is all said and done, they will be running like a champ.

Ummmm, you can't fool us your soundproofing the room so the neighbors can't hear the screaming sex! That is if your Awesome set-up brings over the ladies?? Or, maybe your neighbors won't hear you because your an axe killer. Wow man, your starting to scare me why are you soundproofing the room again??

Because someone stole them, be expecting a visit from the police.

It is because when my girlfriend is upstairs in bed sleeping I can crank up the tunes just a tad while I have one of my many other girlfriends over at the same time and dismember them if I feel like it. That way I have an alibi.

I haven't really made a close inspection but it looked like to me it was a support beam covered in real hardwood. I thought I saw a beam through the drop ceiling

I'm wanting to take it down but I'm not sure I can.
