Why use directional Interconnects??
In cables where the shield does not carry the signal or ground, the shield is normally only connected to ground at one end. In systems where there are significant differences between ground levels on various components, it may make a difference which way such cables are connected. Typically, the end where the shield is grounded should be at the source of the signal. Often, such cable has arrows on it pointing in the direction of the signal flow.
In Single-Ended interconnects, the signal wire and the ground wire (or shield in the case of coaxial construction) form a complete circuit, so both conductors carry signal currents. The ground wire or shield also serves the purpose of bringing the potential of the two components to the same level.
Why use Rhodium?
Rhodium (pronounced /ˈroʊdiəm/ ROH-dee-əm) is a rare, hard transition metal and a member of the platinum group, that does not normally form an oxide, even when heated. Oxygen is absorbed from the atmosphere at the melting point of rhodium, but on solidification, the oxygen is released. Rhodium has both a higher melting point and lower density than platinum. It is not attacked by acids.
