Very nice, I'm looking forward to more pics.
Re: Just Added a Projection System and 154" AT Screen!
Just shot this really crappy video with ugly lighting and no equipment powered on (was testing a lens on my camera). It's fairly up to date.

As a master of overstating the obvious, that's an incredible system. 140dB? My god, I can't imagine it.

Ideally, it's in the low 50s outside, that way, with all the windows and doors open, the heat from equipment won't drive the temperature to uncomfortable levels without a/c use, which would be an acoustic obstacle to a low noise floor.
I'm having a close friend over this evening and we're going to do some more critical listening and then maybe watch a movie.
PM me if you're interested in a visit and able to make the drive to western CT.
Here's a recent shot of my racks. Note the C4000 and the dbx 4bx are the only piece of gear that remain viable into the 21st century. They have not been successfully replicated by any other manufacturer, hence they remain essential parts of my system:

Re: Just Added a Projection System and 154" AT Screen!
I use the 'scope for a variety of measurements, ranging from the quadrature output of my FM tuner's discriminator (for signal quality purposes) to measuring (with a 10X probe attenuator), the max unclipped voltage swing of all preamp stages for proper gainstaging and minimum noise, as well as verifying power amplifier performance into resistive loads (where the attenuator comes into play).
Oddly, I stumbled across this message--I didn't receive an e-mail notification that the thread had updated, even though 'notify of reply' is checked.

Very Nice - I should have looked at your websites to begin with I would have understood why you need it - I was just curious as it’s not something you normally see in someones system.

WoW dude! You better make sure nobody present has a heart condition when cranking that system up!
That sounds like it is one awesome system!!!

Re: Just Added a Projection System and 154" AT Screen!
Yup, a visit to my (slightly outdated) web site provides lots of answers to questions that may arise.
A number of people have complained of chest pain, difficulty breathing and weakness in the legs when bombarded with a little bit of bass, and I was just getting warmed up, too.
I have a 24/96 5-channel recording that I made of fireworks last year, along with three camera angles of video, which I've played a number of times here. It's an awesome experience.
A couple of weeks ago, some sheetrock fell from the ceiling, one floor above the sound system room, during some loud playback. It was quite a mess. Good thing my parrots weren't injured.

Ah, you finally got the Oppo player?
My only regret is that Adobe Encore only works with Dolby Surround, so I was limited to 16-bit audio and 512kbps data rate (Blu-ray supports 640kbps Dolby, but for some reason, Encore crashes with such files) which I had to carefully decimate from the original 24-bit. Some information was lost--mostly hiss introduced by the data reduction, interestingly enough.. but still largely a bang of an experience.

Hey Mark, how 'bout doing a recording at a NHRA drag strip of the AA fueler's "ground pounding" off the line and down the now truncated
1/4 mile? I'd love to hear that recording on a great SS system!

Here's that link for the Youtube preview.. fireworks start at 6:45 into the video. The preamble is Zambelli crew loading the tubes with explosives and wiring up the triggers.
Be sure to select 1080P!

Your friend must have one hell of a system!
Ah, racetracks.. up until 1981, we had Danbury's Race Arena, but they built a mall there in 82. Closest thing now is Lime Rock in Lakeville area, where I used to work in radio broadcasting.
What I miss is the big bore V8s. I was visiting a relative in Inverness, FL in 2005, and there's a race track not far from there, but the cars sound like bumble bees, instead of cars.. small engines revving over 10K rpm.
You know what I really like the sound of? A Detroit Diesel engine with twin turbos. Priceless!
