Re: SC Newguy

OK, you guys knew this was coming, I need more power for the ALS than the 1.0t's can provide; Rich said they were never designed to power the ALs's. Now the question where do I find TFM 75's?

Re: SC Newguy

Better yet, Get a Sunfire 5X200 and run 200 watts to the Ribbons and 200 watts to the subs using 4 of the 5 amps! (OR) get a 5X400 and do the same 8)
That is what I did to both my AL III's and Plat's...its a option at a good cost and GREAT sound...just say-in!!!
BillD, You will be forever with us! RIP until we meet again on the other side...

Re: SC Newguy

I've been buyin n sellin Carver gear for a little over 5 years and I can honestly say that I personally have never seen a TFM-75 for sale anywhere. Silver 7ts & 9ts pop up time to time. I personally fell in love with Sunfire and would suggest a pair of 300x2s for your speakers. Good luck!!

Kingman has one. (Is there anything he doesn't have?) :-k A true superamp! However, I am sure it would have to be pryed out of his cold dead hands, if the truth be known, as would mine.

I saw one for sale on Canuck Audio Mart a while back, but as JJPTKD said, a rare bird on the used market. Another on E-Bay, a few years back.

Now that Mike (mbskeam) has gone tubes  , maybe he will let loose of his. :-k

Re: SC New Guy

Hi guys still at it; missed a Sunfire 300x2 by 720 to $730 on e-bay, rats. I'm I wrong to think one 300x2 will power the original AL's or would two be better; then again what about a 600x2. I realize there is more than one series of each; not sure how to tell them apart. Also read about using a dedicated 20 amp. line, I do have an electrician friend if this needs to be done. Hope wife does not read this thread! Any info will be appreciated.

Re: SC Newguy

Larry, it depends greatly on several things: your preferred listening level, the sixe of your room, type of music you listen to & the condition of your crossovers. The Sunfire will definitely light them up, but they ARE incredibly inefficient...

I second the inefficient quote. They are great speakers but they love power. I am running a m-4.0t on AL-lll's and I need more.

Re: SC Newguy

Thanks for everything, the room is 12'x32' a long narrow room. Yes I like the music loud sometimes, rock and roll you bet , but a lot of big bands also I love it and I know the talent it takes. It is used for HT also but the main deal is the music that's why I'm not interested in the multi- channel amp. Thanks Again Larry
