In need of Bob's Cherry eBay Amps

Post by Carv-it-up » Wed Jan 19, 2011 9:10 pm

I have a few extra of bucks coming my way in a week or two. I would like to get a pair of Bobs's new tube amps for my mids&highs (Infinity IRS Betas). Does anyone know how I can get in touch w/ Bob to see if he and I can work on a price. I realize eBay is the normal route, but was wondering if there could be another avenue.
Two Signature Cinema Grand Series II amplifiers (both are used in bi-amping my Infinity IRS Beta speakers)
Cherry 180's (use them off & on to power the mids/highs tower of IRS Beta speakers)
Sunfire Signature 600~Two amplifier (used on Thiel CS5i)
Carver TX-12 tuner
Own & working, but not in use right now - Sunfire Series II amplifier + two Carver M500t MKII amplifiers + Sunfire Classic Vacuum Tube Preamplifier preamp w/ phono & remote.

I wish you luck in your quest... the last sets on the 'bay didn't reach 5500 bucks. I think Bob is looking at a revamped version of them as I have not seen a set recently.

PM James, he may be able to put you intouch with Bob.

You can also come to the fest & hang out with the man.

Please forgive me frankieD, but who is the James person you were requesting me to possibly see about getting an amplifier from Bob?

"Elgrau - wow, I guess you have a pair of his tubes already?"

I wish...but no. Sorry Carv-it-up; it just struck me as funny that someone could just call Bob up and "order" him to build a pair of these $5000+ rare tube amps for him (like a pizza or something!). But who knows...he's a great guy (I'm told...have not met him as I've not gone to any 'fests); maybe you CAN  ! But I see it more as an "American Chopper" kind of thing: he'd need some other kind of incentive to do it (or something unique and different about the "build" that you'd want and that he'd be "intriqued" to try). Just my take on it....on the other hand, I'd not be surprised to soon see a few of the past "EBay 180's" start showing up on ePray. Buyer's might need the $'s, might want to move on up to something even better, etc., etc. And I'm sure if they DO (show up), someone on this forum will be the 1st to post/announce it! Good luck in your "quest"! - Ed

PM sent to Carv-it-up with details.

I talked to Bob this morning, and told him you were looking at buying a set of amps.
He said to go ahead and give him a call.

Goodluck !!

Through James?

Don't know Herr Rabbit; but somehow I don't think Bob will just drop everything he's doing and start working on an eBay 180 amp for any and all (relative) strangers that call him up out of the blue. Would you?
