Welcome

Hello and welcome to the Carver forum, otherwise known as home. You just made one hell of a purchase that will blow your audio journey off the current road on to the super highway. They sound absolutely fantastic. Your ears will thank you for may years.

As far as a get-together, here at the Carver forum we do it all the time. A Texas-style get together would be a welcome addition. You and your wife are welcome to come and join us at the main Carver event that is held in the mountains of North Carolina, very close to the Tennessee border. It's called Carverfest and folks from all over the country assemble there and pretty much enjoy a week long vacation with all of the other audio folks. Plenty of rigs to check out and some of the greatest folks you would ever want to meet will be there, including the man would built your amplifier [Bob Carver].
In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

The best way to enjoy digital music reproduction is to never listen to a good analogue reproduction.

Congratulations.
I held on to them for the entire ten days.
Just when I though the guys here were going to let me have them, your bid came in the last seconds, and my slow internet connection could not respond.

Re: I just bought Bob Carver's BLACK BEAUTY amplifiers on Eb

Sorry OO, but like I told Steve, you can have the next amp Bob makes, which will probably be even better !! Unless he finds some company to build those transformers for him, I'm sure they'll still be great, but they won't be as special as the ones hand wound by him!!

Traitz3, Carverfest sounds awesome!! I read something about cabin space filling up, are there still room? If I wanted to go, what do I need to know and do to make sure I really live and enjoy the whole experience?

In the mean time, a Texas-style listening session get-together IS ON!!! I'll let you guys know when I get them and we'll go from there!

I think it's the bargain of a life time!! Just think about it: he spent about 4 days winding the transformers with his own hands, watching each turn with his own eyes, concentrating that genius brain of his all that time on making the best amplifier he could build! Even at 8 hours per day, that's 32 hours of his time - so that's what? About $250/hour? An audio genius like Bob Carver can easily charge $1,000-$2,000 dollars per hour on a consulting job!! $250x32=$8,000 and that's just for his time winding those transformers, then add design time, building everything else, plus Tim's and tubular Joe's work, the tweaking, testing, materials, the actual tubes, etc., -THIS IS THE DEAL OF A LIFE TIME!

Now, if on top of being the deal of a life time, he personally comes to your house and installs it for you, that would be awesome!!!!!
