OconeeOrange wrote:"A high res digital file properly streamed from a PC to a high grade DAC can beat the sound coming from most CD players any day of the week. Most CD players have poor to almost nonexistent buffering, which leads to all sorts of problems including jitter distortion. You have to pay a ton of money to get extreme quality from a CD player. That same type of quality can be done with a PC + external DAC for much less cash."

i was using the d/a from the tg4 and then also the one in the sqeezebox. they both sound real good, just the cd player had a little more of a life to the way it sounds. crisper comes to mind. the d/a's although correct, had a slightly drier sound. kinda like the way the interconnect cables that i had been listening to, the ruby's have a more shizzle to it, while the other cables had various qualties in the way they sounded. the ruby's had a more transparent quality to them as well. i may have to try some of those mit's one day.

at the moment, i have audioquest ruby wire with these bad ass ends that i got from a freind not that far away.(thanks toymaker) next on my list, is the rabbit trick of removing the passive x-overs in the al3's and using two 300x2 sunfire amps with a set of 30 band rebranded rane eq's as well a 2/3way electronic x-over that say usd on them. mint old stock from a car audio setup that was used for a few months twelve plus years ago. if that works out well, i am going to look for some maggie 60" tweeter ribbons, then get some 60" carver ribbons for mids, and have an array of 6.5"-15" woofers(have not decided the woofer part). the mit cables would have to be a steal deal for me to get them as well. i am hoping to try some out this upcoming carverfest 2011.
