Now What Should I Do
Now What Should I Do
Well In My OVER ANXIOUSNESS To Get A Second Set Of Carvers I Got A Really Raw Deal
First I Drive 300 Miles To find That They are Not The 5"3" Model They Are The Smaller Ones And Not In Great Shape But I Said To Myself i Just drove All This way and This was The second Time This Happened I Made The Deal
I Was Supposed To Get The Large Ones For $ 600.00 and I Could Only Get The Smaller Ones For $ 460.00 He Assured Me They Played Perfect.
Well As My Luck Has It ALL 6 Woofers Foam Suround MISSING/DAMAGED Using A Flaslight To Backlite The Ribbons They Look REAL Good.
Can The Woofers (if the voice coil is not damaged) Be REFOAMED
Is It Something I Can Do Myself ???????
If Not Can Someone Recommend A Place That Does It
If So Are The Kits Real Close To Orginal ?????
How Do I Tell if The Voice Coil Is Bad Without Driving Them If Refoaming Is Possible ????
If None Of The Above Is Possible Is There Still Only The One Supplier (that raised thier prices lol) That Carry Replacements
Is There a Way For Me To Tell If The Ribbons are Bad BEFORE I Invest In 6 Woofers ????
THANKS IN ADVANCE to All that can respond

Re: Now What Should I Do
I don't know where you are but a shop in Ventura will re foam the woofers and can repair the vc if needed.
The bad news is the re foam is $45.00 so you might want to go with orovox woofers replacements.
As far as the speakers go, if the ribbons are good the Silvers (small ?) speakers with 3 woofers per side are great & unless you have an auditorium sized listening room they will (with enough power) blow your mind.
Good luck.

Re: Now What Should I Do
FYI: the Silvers at 5' 3" ARE the small model; the Platinums & Originals are 6' tall.
yeah, Search on "Ferrari" & see what FIVE PAIR of Platinums looks like in a full 5.1 system~
