WELCOME! Polk SDAs are the shiznit~fiero11 wrote:Hi folks,
I'm from TN and new to this site. My system could definately be called vintage since I get it back in the late eighties, but I wouldn't trade it for anything new. It consists of the following:
Denon DP-30LS Direct Drive Turntable
Carver TX-11a Tuner
Carver DTL-200MK2 CD player
Carver C-1 Sonic Holigram Pre-Amplifier
Carver M1.5t Main amplifier -2
Polk Audio SDA CRS+ Loudspeakers
Polk Audio Monitor 10b Loudspeakers
Where in TN? I'm a native of Sparta myself....

Welcome Very nice system you have. The CRS's are very good but do need proper setup for the bass to excel.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm from the Johnson City area of TN, up in the mountains. I hope to twist my wife's arm into getting a pair of Polk SDA Ic speakers I found in the bay, but you know how wives are about such things. at least after 10 years , my system lives again! My man cave is coming along wonderfully now.

Welcome to the forum.

In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.
The best way to enjoy digital music reproduction is to never listen to a good analogue reproduction.

Re: List Your System !!!
I see you plan on upgrading to Polk SRS TL's soon...let me know what you think of the upgrade, I'd love to have a set of 1.2TL's , but they are a little out of my range right now if I can find them.
Re: List Your System !!!
As my equipment is currently spread all over my house I've decided to upload a picture of my System as it was in 1986 in Naples Italy it consisted of the following equipment:
Carver C-2 Preamp (I still have this)
Carver M500t Amp (I still have this)
Polk SDA2’s Speakers (I still have these)
Technics Sl-1210MK2 (I still have this)
Sansui SE-99 EQ (I still have this but don’t really use it anymore I just like the Meters)
Pioneer 20in Video Monitor (I have this but its in storage)
Pioneer TV Tuner and Video switchbox (I no longer own this)
Pioneer Cassette tape player (I have this but its in storage and it’s broken)
Pioneer CD player (a friend broke it and I ended up with his Sony CD player that I still own)
Pioneer AM/FM tuner (replaced soon after this photo was taken by the Carver tuner that I still own)
Pioneer LD player (Destroyed in shipment and replaced by the Pioneer HLD-X9)
JVC and AKAI VCR’s (Destroyed in shipment and replaced several times)
My roommate at the time had a similar System which we connected together using out second tape inputs to share sources so if a neighbor got to obnoxious with their stereo we could fire up both systems and quickly put an end to that or just get full sound all across the room (which is what we usually did) as the room had a couple wall lockers dividing it in half. Ill post my current system when I get it all fixed and back together.

Re: List Your System !!!
Brand new to the site, but I'll be visiting often! My Carver stuff:
C-4000 and M1.5 both bought new in about 1982/3;
Tx-11A;
Tx-2; and
Pair of Amazing Platinums bought new in about 1988.
The C-4000 has a couple of scratchy pots, but otherwise the system still sounds great. The Tx-2 is used with another system.
Glad to be here!

Every try this? http://www.amazon.com/DeOxit-Cleaning-S ... B0002BBV4G
It can often work wonders with problems like yours.
Do you in SC ?

Re: List Your System !!!
Hi, Oconeeorange. Thanks for the info. I tried a similar product from Radio Shack and it did do some good. My volume control was horrible and it cleaned it up pretty well, but I still have to mess around with the time delay knob in order to get that pot right. I suspect I will have to bite the bullet one day soon and either have it worked on or find another.
Yep, I live in Lexington. Since your handle is not Oconeegarnet I guess you're a Gator or a Tiger fan?
BTW, do you know of a shop in SC that you trust with your equipment?
