I was going through my old audio equipment and found this...

An old friend gave this to me years ago, and I had forgotten the improvement this provided to my old CD player.

Any thoughts or opinions?

It's a pretty good tube buffer. I made a clone of it (bought the circuit board on eBay).

What does the digital readout represent ?

That's just a DC voltmeter I had across the heater lines. There are two tubes each with a 6.3V heater in series. This thing has no voltage regulator (although I'm contemplating putting a 13 V zener where the voltmeter was wired to avoid overvolteage), so you have to play around with resistors to get the voltage right.
