The ribbons alone are worth more then that if they work! Grab 'em up, at that price u can flip 'em easy if you don't like them.
Sunfire TGP-III, 200x5, Signature Sub, Bob Carver Black Magic VTA 20, Klipsch Modded Chorus II's, Grant Fidelity: TubeDAC11

my fingers are crossed...
Awaiting response on the AL III's.
For that price, It would almost be like 2 for one?

I wouldn't commit to anything on the Amazings until I was able to check them out thoroughly.....

What should I be looking for?
I know the drivers need surrounds.
I was told the ribbons and cabinets are in good shape.

Buzzing from the Ribbons and Miss-placed Magnets also look for tears and re-pairs on the Ribbons! Female Vocals and piano are good testing tools and some good Volume - Just wire up the Ribbon section and forget the low end as you already know the issues there and/or AL III's are easier to re-place with drivers as too the Amazings so go test Ribbons only! Good luck

BillD, You will be forever with us! RIP until we meet again on the other side...

Re: Possible Carver Amazings(for me)
There are AT LEAST two comprehensive threads on what to look/listen for when auditioning Amazings. I'd link them but on my Droid now & it's difficult to open multiple windows to cross-reference. A search should bring them up.

Re: Possible Carver Amazings(for me)
... it really pours!
I also just saw a pair of (I think) Original Amazings, around 4 or 5 ft tall with the wood cabinets? It was at a new local estate sale company. They are supposed to call me with a price tomorrow.
All drivers and ribbons intact. How much should I offer, vs. taking the 120 mile trip(one way) to pick up the Piano black Amazings with blown drivers?
Either way, by Sunday, I will own Carver speakers!

Thanks! What would be a good price for these? Or how high should I be willing to go vs $350 for the ones 1 1/2 hours away?

Yeah! 'bout damn time!
As of right now, no call or email back re: the AL III.
I am (supposed to be)getting pricing on the Silver's tomorrow.
If that doesn't go through, headed out of town to pick up the black Amazings!
