I would agree with Mike...that's why it's so important to know what you are buying and hear first. Ribbon rebuild and driver replacement=$$$$$$$$$!!!!! Time to call DaveS. They do look great Chris. How do they sound the way they are?
In reality, it only matters what it sounds like to YOU!!!

I kinda' figured...
They sound great, considering, no buzz or unwanted noise in the ribbons.
I will probably look at replacing 2 or 3 drivers. I believe I can do that myself.
The ribbons would have to wait.
I think it was well worth the $250 I got 'em for.

Re: Possible Carver Amazings(for me)

If the ribbons don't buzz, I'd leave them be. About a year ago there was a set of Silvers at Rita's vintage audio with a ribbon in the same shape. She told me that Mr Carver had told her not to touch the magnet and that trying to fix it would most certainly cause damage that would require immediate servicing. I'm sure DaveS or someone here would know the answer but it may last a long time the way it is.

Re: Possible Carver Amazings(for me)

I have been emailing Ada @ Orevox/Dynavox.

They DO have the drivers in stock for $59.99 each and free shipping.

I am debating on just ordering these vs. waiting for info on surrounds.

If you really like the speakers as much as I like mine then I say go for it.

I replaced 4 of the 6 woofers with new ones and a year later had the other two surrounds done (the replacemets weren't available at that time).

They are great speakers & worth the investment.
