Hello 2 All
Time for me to return to the Carver fold. Many years ago I owned 3 diiferent pairs of the Amazings. Then i got bit by the surround sound bug and sold them. Big mistake. Along the way discovered Apogee and the Scintilla. Now that the Scintilla has been damaged beyond a point that I want to deal with, I am searching for my 1st love, the Amazing.
The only question I have for now is can all of the models be repaired if the need arrises. I am leaning toward the original ALS. Just want to be certain that the ribbons can be repaired and woofers replaced if needed.
Respectfully

Welcome to the Carver forum.
Hello and welcome to the Carver forum, carlton8000. Yes, as mentioned, all of the parts can be still had. That said, the woofers have gone up dramatically in price within the past couple of years but the good news is that they are still available. Rolland can rebuild or upgrade the crossovers, Dynavox has the woofers and DaveS [here at the forum] is the same cat that rebuilt and repaired the ribbons while the Carver corporation was still in business. We also have folks that can assist with modifications, custom tweaks, setup, refinishing and whatever else may strike your fancy.
I take it that you already know that the Original Amazings only have a handful of amplifiers that can properly power them, correct? The Silvers and the Plat's are much more efficient, which opens up the range of amplification to drive said speakers. Right now, the prices of Carver gear have shot up....just due to the season but if you are patient, we can assist in finding you what you want at a price point that won't break the bank.
Anyhoo, welcome [again] to the forum and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.
The best way to enjoy digital music reproduction is to never listen to a good analogue reproduction.

Re: Hello 2 All
I am traveling today to audition the Original Amazings. If i buy I will have to put them in storage until I can figure away to get them home. Any storage tips would be greatly appreciated. Two pairs are available from different sellers. I hope something pans out.
In the mean time i purchased a tx-11 off AGON i always thought of it as one of the most attractive pieces of Mr. Carver's work, with the Silver Sevens being his Masterpiece?

Re: Hello 2 All
WELCOME, Carlton!
While the Silver Sevens were certainly Bob's statement piece, he continues to build tube amps! Go to http://www.bobcarver.com to see his latest masterpieces. He sold a pair of modified Silver Sevens on ebay this year that had 20 output tubes each (KT120s) for a total output of 900 watts into an 8 ohm load~
Are you familiar with his Sunfire gear?

Sunfire, yes, while searching for amps to power my now defunct 1ohm Scintilla. I purchased a Sunfire Signature amp along with the Sunfire tube preamp. A nice combo for most speakers.
