Re: TFM-75 serial#00001

i use, as well as many others use, a pound of fill to the cubic foot of air space. a little more and it dampens a bit more, like 20-24oz to the foot and in the end you trade efficiency for lower tone as the fill will mimmick a larger box than is there. i would also, although a little harder now, put a brace or two on the side walls to back wall, as well as side to side. the more solid the sides, the more output you get that the box itself doesn't absorb up and again the lower it will play without the flexing sucking up the lowest notes. the braces are only relavent if you play it loud, really loud even though you might notice it at lower volumes as well. a rta will show it easy like. and because i did not say it in the first part of the post, very nice work by the way. daddy likes...

Re: TFM-75 serial#00001

I have one filled and one not. At first I havent noticed much diference. I even used the AudioControl warble tone mic and tested the db readings from right to left @ 31.5hz. without much difference between them. Gonna have to play with it a little more to see what is working best.

To mount these speakers first take off the outer aluminum ring.

Heres a few pics of the final product. Turned out great and the bass reproduction is unreal! The windows upstairs vibrate and distort slightly when you look at them in the sun light...lol

Re: TFM-75 serial#00001

Looks like a system that really COULD blow back your hair re that old seventies ad for Pioneer stereo (or some such system from that golden age of hi-fi). Happy extreme listening. Hope your neighbors understand that LOUD is an addiction that must be fed (and a TFM-75 can definitely dish it out!)!

Re: TFM-75 serial#00001

I tell ya this setup has almost unlimited bass. I turned it up last night way past what I thought the speakers could handle and it just got LOUD and more clear. The 75 was just idleing not even sending the needles to half way.

Im now fully hooked on Carver crack and just bought a Sunfire 600x2 from a forum member. Looking at the RE Audio 18XXX subs to be run by the 600x2. These subs weigh 115lbs.

The wife is probly gonna kick me out of the house soon

Re: TFM-75 serial#00001

Lookin' good. You might want to be careful stacking so much gear, I'd hate to hear about dented / damaged top covers etc. looks like you've got 100lbs sitting on the TFM-75 right now all bearing down on the four little feet of the PT2400. Did you notice a difference with the new Sunfire preamp? :-k

Re: TFM-75 serial#00001

I have just been thinking about that very thing. Gonna start looking for a system rack or maybe make one.

The Sunfire pre has a much warmer tighter sound. Its hard to explain...you can just hear the quality in it. It has so many options I havent used a fourth of them yet.
