I added ALOT more than 3dB and they just wouldn't do it.
I think Bill maxed one parametric band (12 dB ) when he and Reese did the original biamp and he couldn't get it flat either. There's also lots of crazy phase cancellation with the foil vs the kapton or something. You might have less trouble with the 48' ribbons than I do with the 60s.
If your crossover will do 3-way, try using your cinema ribbons as tweeters and tell me how it sounds. Wish I had a set just sitting around to play with like Mr. Rabbit.

Can't do 3 way as my crossover only will do 3 way on mono.
Anywho, I'm happy with what I have~

did you modify the X-over?
leaving the notch filter in.
your speaker would have the conversion x-over
running the flat woofers with the 1 60" vs 2 30" ribbons
I had to go backwards on mine, cone woofers and 2 30" ribbons
very strange that this is going on

Here's mine vs. Stereophile's They're doing what they're supposed to, on paper, at least.jjptkd wrote:Wow, that seems very strange...Martin1970 wrote:There's essentially nothing over about 10kHz with the plat ribbons.![]()
The upper-end detail is one of the most notable improvements on my Silvers over the Klipsch Chorus IIs. I would of never imagined that would be the difference in the two but now, after hearing it, it makes total sense. The Klipsch has a small tweeter and the ribbon is huge, making the high end sound bigger, fuller, blending with the midrange much better. Are you sure there's nothing wrong with your ribbons or crossover?

I've got unlimited equalization to work with and when I'd get it to look good on the analyzer,
the sound was physically painful.
Really, I thought I had lost my ability to hear high frequencies or something.
Until I hooked up some tweeters - and wow! Sounded great.
The graph looked good, too.
Like I've said, perhaps the 48" sound different.
Anyone who has a way to cross the 60's to an actual tweeter should at least give it a try.
It might surprise you as much as it surprised me.
Genesis used tweeters with them, you know....
