Re: SD/A 490t CD Drawer Issue

HahahHaha! Kingman, that's exactly how I fixed mine, but I hesitated to post on this because I thought people in this forum would think it was sacrilege to fix our precious Carver grear with a girls hair band, instead of using a special edition, computer-designed, laser-cut, official belt specifically designed for the 490t =) it's good to see that we audiophiles can be very resourceful! (for the record, I went out of my way to find some black ones, although pink ones seem to be the most popular out there)

applied some real slick silicone spray

Big mistake, that crap migrates everywhere. White lithium grease is another no-no. Molykote is the only lube that should go on a CD transport.
Political Correctness...defined

A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Re: SD/A 490t CD Drawer Issue

Alas my 490t died yesterday
Opened her up and found that the cd won't spin up
Sounds like a little grinding sound in the motor

Buying an Olive 4HD music server
It has a Burr - Brown 24bit DAC
I loved the sound from the 490t but don't know if a single bit DAC compares sonically to the one on the Olive
Is it worth having the 490t repaired by Rolland?
Can't tell what he charges for this
Anyone know?

Thanks
