Re: Sunfire Vacuum Tube Control Center Preamplifier

John...it's a very nice pre amp. I run one. It doesn't have the phono board for vinyl or the remote so if you can live without these 2 options, I say go for it. Good luck!!! 8)
In reality, it only matters what it sounds like to YOU!!!

At least one member here has said they prefer the C-19 over the Sunfire Tube pre.....YMMV.

When using a TFM-45 amplifier I actually preferred the C-19 over the Sunfire tube pre in my system. Both are great units though.

I'm using a TFM-45 too......maybe I'll stick with C-19 and save some money for a change.

Actually I'm using three TFM-45's. Two of them drive my AR-9's (bi-ampped) and the other AR LST's.

Thanks for your info guys...as usual it's really appreciated. =D>

Re: Sunfire Vacuum Tube Control Center Preamplifier

IMO, the C19 and the Sunfire Classic are both very good. The C-19 has a lot of extra's that can allow you to change the sound to meet the demands of the room. The Sunfire was ment to be flat and has very little in tone control.

If you really want your C19 to kick some but, contact beemers417 at www.vintagehifishop.com. He does a great upgrade to the C19. There are several memebers on this forum who have had the upgrades done and they love it.

Re: Sunfire Vacuum Tube Control Center Preamplifier

I've seen his site along with the upgrade offered. It looks like a very good deal.

I've already replaced every electrolytic cap in it and replaced all the RCA connectors. Replaced the 0.47uf caps too.

I'm guessing some of the op amps can be upgraded also......not sure which op amps would be a good choice though.

I was wondering if he sells the upgrade kits (parts) for the DIYer's?
