Re: One-of-a-kind Carver Silver Signature build

An ambitious project for sure. It'll be fun to watch the progression.

Are the blue film caps from Clarity? If so, how did you get them to custom value anything as I know someone else that tried and was turned down.

BTW, what is BOM?

Damn good question.

Re: One-of-a-kind Carver Silver Signature build

I would imagine BOM is a bill of materials or a parts list of items going into the amp.

Hi, I do not have the BOM. I am still in the process of gathering parts. That would be too laborious to list because there are hundreds of parts :( .

Re: One-of-a-kind Carver Silver Signature build

Hi F1nut, those are Clarity caps which are audio versions of their industrial caps. Supposedly they are modified versions of the industrial caps to decrease resonance. The largest cap value I'm ordering doesn't exist as a Clarity brand, but the industrial version comes in that value. So they have to convert the industrial cap into Clarity audio cap. So these are obtainable and are "relatively" affordable if you buy in quantities 10 or more.

You know someone interested in these caps? Parts connexion has a sale on these caps right now, 20 % off, if they can't afford to buy in bulk.

Thanks engatz. It's been several years in the making. IME, getting the room acoustics right is the most important component of the audio system.

That's funny, I didn't notice any acoustic treatments :^o :D. Great looking rooming. Are those Quad speakers against the wall? What are the other pieces of gear we are looking at?
