Custom amp created by Bob Carver (AND I SHIT ON IT)

Congradulations d0n, you are the 4th member to EVER get banned on this forum. That in itself says what kind of a asshole you are.

Hi folks I thought you might enjoy seeing a picture of an amp I asked Bob to build for use with my klipschorns. The chassis is a Genesis Technologies B200 Stealth amplifier that was beyond repair. So, instead of tossing out the beautiful and rare Genesis amp altogether, Bob suggested he make me a custom amp inside the b200's chassis.

He's still working on it but I expect to have it home in NY soon.

I see four KT-88s there, so I'm guessing in the neighborhood of 180 watts....maybe more.

Re: Custom amp created by Bob Carver

I honestly dont know the specs yet. I think he said it will be 100wpc. Bob is certain it'll be a perfect mate to the klipschorn speakers. He did say that the tubes were the most powerful availiable. I don't think he mentioned KT88's though. My computer crashed recently so I lost most of our emails back and forth.

Bob is a wonderfully patient and kind person. He's hilarious too. I hope to meet him in person one day.

The end product will look exactly like a stock stealth B200 amp (except with blue LEDs instead of red) until I pop the top cover off. The Genesis logo on the face is actually the power switch. Bob was able to keep that feature. =D>

Re: Custom amp created by Bob Carver

Most powerful available would be KT-120s, which kick ass according to everyone I've heard comment on them.

By the way, it must really SUCK to be you, Don~

;-)

EDIT: I just realized this is a newbie named d0n, not our regular Don!

Re: Custom amp created by Bob Carver

I would swap out the Stealth log for an appropriate "Carver" badge made on a nice piece of satin finished aluminum.

Great project there. Bob LOVES a challenge... trust me I know! =D> \:D/

You won't be able to see the tubes.
Political Correctness...defined

A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Re: Custom amp created by Bob Carver

The top will be off when using the amp. I'll see the tubes enough I think. I'm more about hearing the music than seeing tubes glowing anyway. I usually shut the lights off on all my gear while I'm listening. Bob put blue LEDs in the face of this amp and he put an on/off switch for me. I hate staring at lights while I'm enjoying my music.

Anyone else?

DO keep the top off when playing the amp! You will soon find out that big tubes create a tremendous amount of heat....I like my system best in the winter- FREE heat! :D
