Martin, check with Eddie; he used to have a shitload of Sunfire amps & now that he's running the Tube 305s, perhaps he'd part with one....

The service to my home limits me to 200Amps x 240V....so only 48,000 watts if I don't run the dryer....

Re: How many watts per channel do you run with?

I'm running a Sunfire 400x7 into a pair of modded AL-IIIs (active bi-amp), which puts me at about 800 wpc possible to EACH woofer & EACH ribbon, plus I'm running the other 3 channels into Sunfire Center/Surround CRS-3 speakers at 6 ohms for a possible 600 wpc to each of those. Total POSSIBLE watts: 5600 watts.

I've never blown the circuit breaker, so I guess I'm running less than 1800 total at the most in reality.

I was thinking that too. I'm trying to get that one. Not totally sure how much I'm willing to gamble on it. It's been hell trying to find a 400x5 or 400x7 at a decent price lately.

Re: How many watts per channel do you run with?

I had a pair of Silvers awhile back, my TFM-45 didn't seem to power them very well. I ended up with a 300x2 on them and while they sounded much better I could tell they were thirsty for a lot more. I believe they're rated at 575 RMS so don't be afraid to juice them up!! :D

I was hitting my Silvers with a bridged TFM-55 on each channel, that REALLY made them come alive :-) My Lightstars worked good too!

Re: How many watts per channel do you run with?

I was using a A-760x pushing 385wpc to my silvers. I picked up a Sunfire 600x2 a few months ago. Great improvement.

Good pick up as the prices on these will only rise. For stereo in a price range humans can save for and own, this is the one to search for.

Re: How many watts per channel do you run with?

575 per channel front, 380 per channel rear, 250 for the center when I am in HT modes and 250 for a passive sub (again, for HT). So I guess that's 955 left and 955 right plus the center & sub (another 500). That's at 8 ohm but my primary 4 speakers are all 4 ohm (ALS & AL-III). :D

Cheers,
Terry
