Eq, bbe sonic maximizer, and tube buffer wiring

I just wired up my living room in the new house.
I have a question on the best way to wire, specifically the tube buffer.
Right now, I have the eq running through the mxr tape loop, and the bbe through the eq loop.
I have the CD player running to the tube buffer, and then to the mxr.

Any thoughts?

I guess I could run them through seperate tape loops to compare?

I didn't need my bbe after going active & installing the Rane parametric EQs.

Too much stuff in the signal path. If you really need all that to get good sound, you should consider starting over again with gear that doesn't require all that to sound good.

I have the mxr130 as my amp right now, and I am currently looking into upgrading to Sunfire or at least a carver power amp.

I guess I should rephrase my question. Without buying thousands in all new gear, how can I get the best sound with what I have?

I was also told(here on the forum)that the bbe would really enhance my amazings.

Chris...if you are running 130 watts per into the Amazings then you are barely hearing them and lucky the receiver hasn't shut down. Is this what is happening or did I just misread the last post?

No, it's running fine for now. I really was just wondering an the wiring scenario?

I do realize I need more juice to run these things!

Minimum power is a very subjective thing. More importantly you need an amplifier that will source a lot of current.

Are you happy with sound the BBE unit gives you? That's all that really matters~

It seems to add depth? Maybe because I'm not pushing enough power?

Personally, I think the BBE is nothing more than a simple EQ ( If you check the specs it boosts @ 50 Hertz and 8000 hertz IIRC).

That's 1 reason I don't think you need both units.

On the power side, can you reach your level of volume that you like without straining your receiver? Has it ever gone into protection shutdown because you were driving it hard? If not & you're happy with the sound, consider yourself lucky.

The AL-IIIs are a difficult load, mostly due to the passive crossover. An amp capable of putting a comfortable 600 watss at 4 ohms into them will get the most out of them. It all really depends on your common listening level & your expectations from a speaker.

I know they SAY it does, but I have my doubts. At any rate, it also has bass/treble boost.
