Re: MY HT/Music Rig...

Ok, the case without his name, mint, no scuffs or scratches. What are you looking for or at? The one in the rack may have a scuff or two, i forget . The only stuff coming to carverfest is paid for, otherwise, the ebay listings will begin now. As it sits, three pairs of al3's alone are going to the fest. As well as the food and my rig. I will not be carrying this unless sold prior. Anyway, i think the prices are fair, get while you can. Ebay i am hoping will bring another benjamin or two on stuff.

I must be too crued to be a sucsessful salesman i guess. Tell you what, i will bring a amp for my rig to the fest, i was thinking carverfest amp, but i am flexible. Do you like bob name on it? Personally, i like it off as the tube pre has it and it seems too much to me personally if everything has his john hancock. I like my seven channel and tgp4 combo, the amp has the name, the pre not.

Re: MY HT/Music Rig...

So, it is now time to spill some of the behind the scenes on this trip.

Angelo,

I'm not sure why this is my problem. In the last 6 years that I had everything set up as a system, I never heard any buzzing from the speakers or hum from the subwoofer, nor did my wife, son, or any friends that came over and marveled at the system ever say "what is that noise..." You came down, checked out the equipment, seemed satisfied, purchased and hauled it away. I am not there to verify your setup, house power/wiring issues, any damage to the equipment after leaving my sight, or the problems that you seem to be experiencing. Honestly, I am insulted that the equipment that I sold in great working condition is now shit. I am not Wal-Mart where you can return it if you don't like it, and I have no obligation to you. Had I known that I would continue to be "married" to it, I would have sold it locally to the buyers that I refused after committing to selling it to you.

That being said, I am sending you $120.00 to cover half of the cost of the amp plate repair at Vintage Hi Fi. I am now done with this. I don't want any more emails, text, or phone calls.

Robert

Hello again. Hope all is good. Further testing with a power strip showed the sub does have a feedback/hum issue. Volume low no issue, slight increase, hum, so during quite passages and mutes, it like whoa. Go turn the gain down, reset, and again. How can i now in good conscience send it knowing it has issues and it is in need of repair and i am going to carverfest which vintage hifi will attend. So no shipping cost to tom in Pittsburg. The speakers i will fix, but the sub. Maybe it should be on you. As it definitely has a issue. I am open to any thoughts or ideas to remedy. Tube pre going to sub then to six hundred driving a set of crm2's. i wanted to try the set with a woofer, and of course i am sorry that it is like this. What do you think? Cheers angelo.

Angelo,

The woofers are Dynavox. I honestly never heard any buzzing in either of the speakers, or I would have stated that up front. But if you are hearing it, then it must be. Sorry for the extra work, I guess your ears are better than mine :). Good luck with the copters, you can look for forums that would be more helpful then anything I could provide, as I was just starting to upgrade the Venom Night Ranger. It is also branded as a Walkera 60B. Can still get parts for it, and will be able to search for more info under the Walkera part number.

I forgot to ask, are the amazing 12s oem or dynavox? I see the al3 are oem. Thanks.

Angelo,

I never had any buzz in any of the ribbons, nor did my ex wife ever complain of hearing any buzzing. Sorry, but I don't know what to tell you. I used the crossovers in the back as well as the EQ/Analyzers for the speakers, no other filters involved. Is it a humidity issue? The kapton might have picked up a lot of moisture in the trailer, as it was damp in there. You might try to dry them out or put them in a room with a dehumidifier, as the kapton will loosen up when exposed to humidity (according to everyone on Carveraudio...) Don't remember how much the kapton cost, you would have to ask Dave. Good luck with the rebuild, and remember that new ribbons have to break in for 500-1000 hours before they start sounding good again.

So at the end of the day, both ribbons buzz. You can see there is no tension on the diaphragm. I noticed it while i was there, yet it did not click in my head that is a problem. So, i am lucky to have another set good to go. I would ask, how much did the kapton cost when you got it from james?
I am just gonna redo them, and the will be good. I have no, and i mean no logical reason the ribbons did not buzz with you. Only remote think might be if you used a high pass on the tgp2 . Do not know, i am very pleased with the rest so far, as all i have hooked up so far is the plats, 600, and center along with the woofer for a moment. Interestingly, i forgot just how power hungry plats are. My sunfire tube pre on three quarter volume where the al3 were half. Wow. I got the tiny chopper up, and still trying to understand the rest. So much stuff for a no experience guy. Good thing my son and his friend had a clue. So, please understand, i am at a loss how this has happened with the ribbons, i have moved mine around more times than i have fingers and toes over the last 20 plus years, these 60 are just in need of another redo . Now to hook up the al3s.

Hello. As i just hooked up the true sub to my tube pre, ok at first then it started humming. Touch the volume, and it goes nutty. So, what might you know? We did not turn anything up, and at low volumes not a issue until it pounds, then goes not so good. I am at a loss on what to do here. I may need to see you and return it perhaps. As i said i was not going to give doug the pre, but the sub is what he wanted. Shit.

It would be expensive to have them crated and shipped, and there would be no guarantee that they would arrive safely. Send me your contact info and address. There is another party that has purchased all of the equipment as a package and will be bringing it north, we may be able to strike a deal with him for you to purchase from him and have him deliver them. He is familiar with how to move the speakers.

Thanks,

Robert

Re: MY HT/Music Rig...

And then my reply.

You know robert, you seem and look like a good guy and i have not pressed the issue. I took it on your word that all this stuff is 100percent. I am sorry you feel like i am in a relationship with you over this stuff. I think this is your problem and i also agree i wish i left it all alone. That is not the case, so i will leave the shoulda , coulda shit alone. On to the woofer, your offer is solid, the other option i have is to bring it back, or ship it back, i already have issue with doug, and i will not further the poor situation with a knowingly doing him wrong. I am starting to think you preferred the package sale due to the crap you would have gotten if a person really inspected everything with a fine tooth comb to make sure nothing is with issue. I did not, half asses it and took your word on it. Believe me when i say, it was my fault for not really checking everything out and working on your word that everything is 100%. Soooo, thanks and i will forward all this to doug now and let him decide what he would like done. And believe me when i tell you, i can make another ride to visit you and return it all for you to do as you see fit. The money to made was on the speakers that need to be redone, so, keep in mind, what little hassle you believe this to be, is far less than it could be. Cheers.

Dont be embarrassed. Is it too much in this day and age to expect a man to stand behind his word and/or products for sale?

I buy and sell on CL, and have given a few refunds for items when someone is not happy, its just the right thing to do.

So even after a swap and then move, the replacements had some buzz. High volume. Damn over the rainbow, it will find resonance everytime. No matter, sold. With some warranty that if it does not plays correct, i will get him some more ribbons and swap.

Re: MY HT/Music Rig...

Also during the audition , we heard some funny shit in the left speaker for a split second, Then it went away. So, siting at idle for a while, dead silence in the garage, then i heard weird calls to outer space coming from the left speaker. So, sometimes i get what i pay for. A 800 dollar 600/2 that needs a refurb. 300/2 dead silent, no hiss, no nothing. So far, awesome amp. Tommorow for spl. So now the count is four items in poor shape, 600 , amazings ribbons, al3 ibbons, subwoofer.

I was just erasing my voicemails, and sure enough i missed a call on the 13th that robert did say he had issue with the sub, way back. As i said, the guy seemed solid. At any rate, i want to look for the good in folks, i can so easily go in a negative direction that only kills my inner spirit if nothing else. So i try not to do that.
