Possible treasure found...

A carpenter friend of mine who has done work at my house called this morning. He said "hey what do you call those little glass bottles laying around in front of your stereo system? I found like three boxes full of those things in an old house Im remodeling".

He is bringing them over in a couple days for me to look at. Wish me luck!!! [-o< [-o< [-o<

Re: Possible treasure found...

lets hope there not a bunch of TV tubes...... :-" :-"

when I find a box of tubes, out of the 100 or so maybe 2-3 keepers. but its still fun to do..... :D

I do have a bunch of 6sn7's I've given those out

I do have a set of 12ax7 mullards, at least I think they are, labeled Harmon kardon, made in great Britain.
so this would narrow it down a bit dont you think....

I can bring them for ya to try out if you like
was using these in my big amps, have a tellys in there now
the mullards add a bit more syrup to the sound, and the B.B. are a bit S w ee t as it is, so the tellys kinda even things out

the sound stage with the mullards is nice, when I 1st put them in, it move it out and up
put the other tubes back in and right back to what it was before, not bad , it just got better with the mullards, the tellys did not change the sound stage.

Re: Possible treasure found...

Your in the loop Snoop :D

Doug I cracked up when he said glass bottles...LOL Made me feel old.

Hoping for the best mbskeam but Im figuring about what you said 2 or 3 out of 100. Bring those Mullards Id like to try'em out.

I have another lead on a Uranium Enrichment plant that was built here in the early 50's. There has to be some very high grade tubes hid away in that place. :-$

Re: Possible treasure found...

It'd be tough to get tubes out of a place like that. I know up here at Oak Ridge, that nothing can leave those areas.

I know a guy, quite an audio buff, that has had to smash piles of WE300B's because demolition of the old sites is demolition! Trying to leave with even one will cost you your job. Knowing the value, I can't image the pain and the twitchy fingers that'd cause.

Re: Possible treasure found...

If they turn out to be TV tubes you can do what Diane did years ago before most of you were around. She brought a huge box of tubes to CF on which she glued small magnets to, they make great fridge magnets.
Political Correctness...defined

A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

In a recent press conference, President Obama remarked, "If I had a city, it would look just like Detroit."

Did you get one of the bowls she made out of old records?
