5751s have a specified amplification factor of 70, the 12AX7s, 100. According to Bob, the phono PCB in the Sunfire Preamp needs all the gain the 12AX7s have to offer in that application. Perhaps some have had better luck than I... Brian, what was your experience?

I like the 5751's in the Sunfire per. I have used Sylvania and GE triple mica black plates. My preferred tube is the Siemens 12AX7.
