Very nice.

Can you tell anything much about those Apoogee speakers? I have heard of that brand as a really great sounding design, but don't know a whole lot about models, actual ribbon design, what frequency's they cover or anything. Supposed to be a real tough load though, I think?

Thanks for sharing your system.

The scintilla was the amp killer 1 ohm load, the ribbons are almost the same that carver used, Apogee was sued out of existence by magnapan or so the story goes, the centaur line of which I owned the original centaur at release is/was the hybrid line, I traded the original centaur up for the full ribbon Stage which was a 3 ohm load . the ones I have now are the baby of the hybrid line.. the minors are like 60hz-20+ khz, the stage was

Don has a pair of Apogee's that sounded great at CF. Maybe he can chime in and tell us about them.
In reality, it only matters what it sounds like to YOU!!!

Looks like a nice set up! I see you noted the fact that you don't have any Carver gear, have you seen his new 75x2 tube amp? I wonder how it would compare to the Mcintosh you have?

Wonder on what basis would Magnepan have been able to go after Apogee? I guess any patents on their technology. Have try a search and come up with what they've ever patented maybe.

James (OTD) has that McIntosh unit in his rig. He mentioned he prefers the CarverFest 2018 amp.

Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.

Magnepan ribbons are a different design than the Apogee, and IIRC the Apogee panels are electrostatic, not planar magnetic. The Centaur Minor is a 2-way ribbon/voice coil setup. Jerry brought a set of them to CF '16, I thought they sounded very nice. Bob used them as a reference to help adjust the voicing of the ALS crossovers, along with an ECS-U box I brought and karma'd to him (he needed the Gundry notch circuit).

Nice system wrat!
