I noticed that the M-1.0t was listed as being USA made. I have had three of them and two were made in Japan and one was USA. They were all the later models with the mono switch, and oddly enough the two Japan models sounded a bit better. I sold the USA model and still have the two Japan models

IIRC the 1.0t went though lots of revisions during its lifetime. I'm not surprised that some variants might sound different.

FWIW the 1.5 went through some minor revisions too. The early ones were designed to require a higher level input than the later ones. To many people an amp that produces 350W with a 1.5V input sounds better than the same amp that produces 350W with a 3.0V input, just because one amp sounds louder at the same dial setting on your preamp. In reality, both amps sound the same, but most people think louder sounds better.

Notes from my units...

C-1 is U.S.A. made
M-400t is U.S.A. made

TX-11 is "designed and assembled in U.S.A." -- I guess we count that as made in the U.S.A.? The parts are probably made in Japan?

DTL-100 is from Japan
TD-1700 is from Japan
The Receiver 2000 is from Japan

Dominator D-12 is from China; besides the Dominator subs, are there any other Carver or Sunfire components made in China?

The USA model that I had, looked like it had lived a harder life than the two Japan model. It may have simply needed a tune-up.

mr. maddmaxxx,

Thank you for the info on the other Sunfire speakers made in China -- I wonder how the quality of the new ribbon models will hold-up? My Chinese D-12 seems to be fairing well, but was likely made by a different manufacturer.

Also, congrats on making 1K -- truly one of the tribal elders!

I noticed in another thread that the AV-705x wasn't made in Linville, it was made in Woodinville, WA. How many known shops did Carver corp. have? I could have sworn there was another shop in the USA besides these two.
