Achtung!!

I just found out that my M500T cannot be repaired due to unavailability of components. I live close to Toronto, Ont. I had brought it in to a local stereo repair shop about 10 years ago and they fixed it then. It went boom again, but now they say they can't get the parts.

Anybody know where I can send it?

I wonder when Sunfire owners like me will be in this same predicament, only worse, because there is no tech data on the outside regarding Sunfire equipment, as there is for Carver equipment.

Tell me how it went "boom". If it went "boom" in a particular way (wide open triac fried the field coil), your technician is correct. Parts are unobtanium. Otherwise, most parts are available or suitable substitutes can be found. I think the best thing to do is to find out from your tech why he says it is unfixable (i.e., which part), and then call Roland.

The ONLY thing I have heard Rolland can't fix, is the Lightstar Preamp, and a couple of the prototype runs made at the end of Carver.... Your repair guy is full of shit... "HE" can't fix it... He probably needs parts, and Rolland won't sell parts.

I thought that only the Magnetic Field Coil and filter capacitors were unavailable but that there was a workaround for the filter caps by piggybacking 2 together to get the value needed. Also, if this unit is in Canada, then Anatech in Georgetown knows how to fix these beasts and is very close to Toronto.

I had no problem getting electrolytic caps for my M-500, and they use all the same ones as the "T"

I think the OP was from 1996? The M-1.5t is the unit that had dual caps; they switched to separate caps and a mounting block when the dual caps became unavailable
