The Sunfire Sigs have single cord w/@ 480 joules of reserve in the transformer. @ 380 joules for the standard models.

I personally don't think you'll HEAR ANY difference between the two, but the Sunfire 7 channels have more channels to draw from and you can "daisy chain" the inputs from one to the next with short RCAs. Ray's LS is the "light" model (series II?) while James' is the original and supposedly better (heavy as HELL!). I've heard Mike's (BlueMDPicker) "heavy" LS w/electrostats and it was WORKING to power those babies. I don't think any lesser amp would have been up to the challenge. My personal observations between the two is they are both WORLD CLASS for thousands of $$$ less than the nearest competition. In a "perfect" listening situation, you'd be HARD PRESSED to tell the difference.... end rant!

No WPC difference but I *think* the Reference 1.0 should have a current advantage over my 2.0 due to those 2 big honkin' transformers. The rags of the day said no difference, but I don't think they had ever run accross anything like Lightstar.

AFAIK, the Lightstar line was composed of the following .... 1 Pre(the Lightstar Direct) 2 Amplifiers(Reference and Reference 2.0) and 1 Sub(Darkstar....that didn't go into production.) I would imagine they planned to expand the line had the company not folded.

I have it on good authority I own the only surviving Darkstar driver. Carver Research built a Trapazoidal cabinet for it....with a 5-sided Lightstar emblem that was lit by a blue LED. You should be able to see mine at CF '08.

I'm mulling over purchasing another Lightstar 2.0 that would make it my second unit but I'm in a bit of a conundrum. I would need to sell my Sunfire 300x2 amp (the one in the avatar) and pay another $500 probably to get it, is it worth it? I just need a sanity check, I know I already have one and the rationale I'm using is the build quality/coolness factor (so much for rationale) is better and I do like the neutral voicing of the Lightstar.

Please help me get of the fence not much time left.

Well it looks like a moot point anyway, the guy got back with me and said there was another person committed, btw this is the one on Audiogon.

Poking around the forum, it's been awhile since I've been here, I noticed the Lightstar audiogon/ebay thread and didn't realize that there was somebody looking at them already, sorry about that.

Yeah, i got the same reply... but I'm in line after him if it falls through (I guess)
