Should have stayed in bed.. "Lightstar Referance Disaster"

You ever have one of those days, where you look back and realize, you should have just stayed in bed....

Well, after about 3 months of having my system sitting on the floor in pieces, I decided to take a few hours and get it all put back together, and have some nice tunes for a change.
After getting the monster 80 pound amps in place, moving out all the old equipemnt I never use, and moning in the Lightstar pre, crossover, and EQ, I started the daunting chore of wiring everything together.
After an hour or so, everything was connected, got the pre running to the EQ, then over to the 2-way crossover, then on to the 2 amps, and to the speakers.
Next I power up the pre... then the EQ, and then the crossover, (so far so good).. Then I switch the amps on...
WHAT THE FUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HUGE GREEN SPARK.....
Some dumbass forgot the connect the speaker wires on the far right speaker... Bi Bi Lightstar.

The speaker wires were touching, and a HUGE green spark welded the leads together on the amp for the ribbons.
The right channel is toasted. Spent an hour or so talking to Rolland, and seems it won't be too bad to fix, guess he will try to talk me throuh it when I get around to taking it apart.

Good news is, I had an extra Lightatar amp sitting there, ready to take its place....
It sounds good...... but I should have just stayed in bed

Yep Toy Maker, I have had several of those days where I not only should not have gotten up, but I probably shouldn't have even rolled over!!!

I thought the LS 1.0 would have handled that little 'ol welding job easily....pffffft!

Ya know, that's why I usually connect everything from the speakers BACKWARD to avoid such a costly mistake....the amp is the last connection.

Come to think of it, didn't Dreamer do the same thing with his 7t's? Hmmmm, his still worked.

Guess his amps are better than yours, huh?

Yeah well, having 4 amps, and the parts to build 4 more, I should be good on parts for a while I guess.

Dam!! Thanks for the lesson James! Now I know to connect speakers first!!!! Are you sure it was a green spark? and not Blue? Maybe you should have your eyes checked as well? Hahaha. Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

naaaa it was green.... almost like a damn firework. It was only about 16" away from me. I "thought" it came out of the amp.... later I saw the wires under the edge of the shelf, and realized it came from there. The copper wires were fused together to where I had to cut them apart.

Well, copper DOES give off a green flame....sorta like it's oxidation color...
