Re: Scarabeo's System
You know, it does look like a door frame. Does it have standard door dimensions?
It should sound like it isn't there!

NAW, its 30 1/2" wide X 62" High so 4" shorter then the Platinum's. Very thick and heavy wood with a solid frame.BillD wrote:You know, it does look like a door frame. Does it have standard door dimensions?

Re: Scarabeo's System
What are the dimensions (LxWxH) of your listening room? That will affect proper setup for the AL-IIIs.
Also, make certain all four fuses are 4 amp slo-blo (available at Radio Shack).

I guess the only room I have left is a bedroom that is 15' X 12' & ceiling 12'TNRabbit wrote:What are the dimensions (LxWxH) of your listening room? That will affect proper setup for the AL-IIIs.

I will use a sunfire pre-amp and one of my 1.5t for now but that is temp! I Plan on selling the "DOOR" speakers so that will open up more options. I will check the fuses and I still have some slow burn ones from my Platinums that I will check.
I got the ALIII Plus for a great price or I would not have got em - Just a lucky freak deal

Re: Scarabeo's System
Set them up on a "dead" end of the room, preferably the long way, with the "live" end where you sit. Both you and the speakers should be at least 3 feet away from any walls, especially the ones behind the speakers. Toe in SLIGHTLY to taste, put your listening position about 2' back from an equilateral triangle with the speakers. Start from there, then use the Sonic Holography CD to tune to taste.

Re: Scarabeo's System
This is definitely the best place to start as far as speaker placement goes. This diagram is the most recent diagram that Mr. Carver published. Give it a try and see what happens..
