I have no problem copying this over to the other forum as per your request James. Time to start the healing process, let everyone cool down and hope the future only gets better.

Re: CF 09

I can't wait for CF 09' !!! It's going to be fun bringing all this crazy tube equipment up there, and see just what everyone thinks of it.
07' was KICKASS... Much more relaxing, and FUN than 08' but that's my fault for getting in the middle of so much trying to organize everything with Bob. This year, I am going to make sure it's as much for "for me" as 07" was.

COUNTDOWN: 196 days !!!!

Great friends, great time, great tunes, a plethora of knowledge and might just be the time of your life.

Plus it's a great chance to see and hear Carver and Sunfire gear you never had a chance to hear before. It's also a great chance to see and hear brands that you had never known existed as well as one of a kind gear. It's an "audio experience" would sum it up quite well, with great times and great tunes to boot!

The best way to enjoy digital music reproduction is to never listen to a good analogue reproduction.

CarverFest is a gathering of Carver fanatics in the western mountains of North Carolina in the fall (usually around Labor Day Weekend). It is held in a private resort, and the accommodations are well-appointed cabins (with nice kitchens, comfy furniture, hot tubs, and LOTS of clean electricity). We bring truckloads of audio gear (speakers, amps, preamps, cd players, turntables, etc) and set up versions of our home systems in the common areas of these cabins. We then spend a long weekend listening to each other's rigs, eating FANTASTIC food, sharing a few "adult beverages", and discussing all things audio. We swap cables, CDs, components, and experiment with all sorts of configurations of equipment. We bring our favorite CDs and vinyl and turn each other on to new music. We have discussions about cables, amplifiers, speakers and the music industry.

We talk about modifications we've made to our gear, discuss possible ways to improve out rigs, and have workshops and round-tables on topics like room acoustics, power conditioning, and the history of Carver and Sunfire.

By the time everyone has arrived and set up their gear, the cabins look like a working museum of Carver, Sunfire, and Phase Linear gear--a veritable tribute to Bob Carver's genius! We have other brands too--Linn, Martin Logan, Taylor, VMPS, Velodyne, Klipsch, Benchmark, etc.--all with the mind of building the best-sounding systems we can. Sometimes our "portable" rigs sound VERY good at CarverFest, and sometimes they leave a lot to be desired when compared to our "home rigs" in their "natural habitat", but the great thing is that we all get to hear a LOT of different gear--Carver and other brands--in configurations and combinations that we would never be able to experience otherwise. And some of us even swap things around with each other at the 'Fest, so we can hear what a piece of gear we've been lusting after might sound like in our own rig. It's like an audiophile's playground, really.

Some evenings, the discussions can get pretty "enthusiastic"--especially if they are fueled by a few glasses of good Scotch or microbrewed beer, but we all realize that we're all "on the same team" in the end, and even the most heated discussions conclude with a laugh and a friendly slap on the back. New friend are made every year at CarverFest, andold friendships are rekindled. It's a chance for us all to get together, meet each other face-to-face, and learn a little more about the faceless people who post regularly (and not-so-regularly) on this forum. We try and keep all conversations on-topic for the weekend, and leave topics like politics at home. This is an "audio" gathering, after all... ;)

And best of all, we get to meet and hang out with Bob Carver himself, who brings not only his humble genius and delightful wit to the gathering, but usually brings some VERY cool equipment of his own.

I have been to both CarverFests so far, and plan to attend again this year. I made the t-shirts for the first CF in 2007, and I've had a GREAT time both years. I've made some good friends there, and plan to make some more friends this year, and hopefully re-connect with some folks I missed last year. And hopefully, I can talk Bob into signing some more of my Carver gear again (last year, he was gracious enough to sign my Silver 7t's).

If you can make the drive, and afford the costs, it is WELL worth it. It's a GREAT way to spend the holiday weekend, and you will come away from CarverFest with a TON of great memories, dozens of great photographs, a bunch of new ideas for your system, and the honor and privilege of getting to meet Bob Carver in person.

Carver Fest is an event NOT to be missed, if you are a Carver fan, or even if you are an audiophile of ANY type. Put it on your calender NOW... :D

Re: CF 09

Yeah, what they said!!!!
Don't forget about the couple new things to look forward to for '09' as well....
Mr. Carver is planning on working with Jerry DeMink to enlighten us further on the subject of live music VS. the difficulties reproducing the live version that Jerry just played for us!
We may also have a person who is a power specialist with degrees in most things electrical including a degree in Cable Theory in attendance this year! He will be joining us for the fun and friends that is Carverfest. He will also be more than willing to participate in Q&A discussions about power, cables and all that is electricity. He is a great person to ask the questions you want answered for real, and not with some research white pages that you can't understand in the first place. He is very gifted in explaining things and giving answers in real world terms that you can actually understand. :D He also makes every effort to focus his answers on his own personal experiences and not things that he has read somewhere. He is also not afraid to admit that he does not know the answer to a particular question if he can not answer 100% confidently... so feel free to write up some of your questions or topics if you wish to do so! Trust me you can get some amazing answers on how electricity works in the "real" world!
And did I mention meet Mr. Carver? 8) Oh yeah, they already said that....
